Trisha Neubrand — Ceramics

Ms. Trisha graduated from Iowa State University with a Master of Arts in Education Degree. She has 26 years of teaching experience, 12 years in the U.S. and 14 years at International Schools around the world.

Creating with clay provides valuable benefits to your kids’ development:

  1. Motor Skills: Clay is an excellent way to improve dexterity and strengthens large and fine motor skills.

  2. Creative Problem Solving: Stimulates imagination and helps children adapt to change.

  4. Self-esteem: Once children learn to express their ideas in clay, they can become empowered in ways that go far beyond the art room.

David Mao — Drawing

Mr. David Mao began taking art lessons as a child. He studied art with Prof. Jiangmei Ni 【倪景楣】in the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Shanghai Tongji University. He also took private lessons from Mr. Wenliang Yan 【颜文梁】, who was a pioneer of landscape oil painting in China, and the vice president of the Central Art Academy. Over many years of art study, David acquired a solid foundation in sketching watercolor, and oil painting, and gradually developed his own style. David immigrated to the United Sates in 2007, and has been giving art lessons in multiple Chinese after-schools ever since. During his early years of teaching, David developed a teaching method that well integrates art theory and drawing practice. David makes the art lessons fun by encouraging original, creative ideas and critical thinking from his students so that they may be inspired through the exercises and thus get into the spirit of drawing. His students often win prizes in local art contests. David I s a much-loved art teacher who values diversity in his students.

Jessica Johnson

Jessica Johnson — Drawing

Jessica Johnson was born and raised in San Diego, and has been creating art for as long as she could pick up a crayon. Art has always played a large part in her life. Being a fashion design major, her love for fashion still constantly lingers over and into her artwork.

Teaching has given her the opportunity to combine two of her passions: art & aiding people with their natural talents. She is also the founder of Hidden San Diego, which is a website that showcases all hidden, haunted and amazing spots in San Diego!

Currently she is teaching art courses for children, teens and adults for several companies in San Diego County.


Jingyi Yu — Painting & Calligraphy

Mr. Yu graduated from Beijing University of Educational College with a major in Art. He has 20 years of work experience in teaching art, including, four years of teaching painting at the BOYI Art Training Center. In addition, he was Art Director at the Beijing Art Company for 15 years.

Chinese Painting is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world, which is a great way to engage Chinese Culture and is known today as GuoHua.


Brie Cheng — Drawing

Brie Cheng has 8 years of training and has rich experience in Art. She graduated from the Subsidiary School of Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1992. In 1996, she graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Since 1996, she taught at Beijing NSCL International School, and has served as a judge and instructor for the Beijing International Children’s Painting Competition. In 2016, she co-founded Temecula Valley Chinese School.







Paul Xu — Drawing

  • 1982-1986 Studied in the Department of Chinese Painting, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts

  • 1986-1997 taught at the Fine Arts Department of Huazhong Normal University

  • 2005-2018 taught at the S. Arts Education Center in San Diego

Bruce Li — Dance

  • Graduated from the Classical Dance Department of Beijing Dance Academy

  • Participated in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympics

  • Participated in the “Yellow River” Performance at the National Theatre

  • Served as Dance Teacher at Beijing Dance Academy, and participated in the research group responsible for the syllabus of 1st – 6th Grade

  • Served as Head of Dance Department at Beijing Music and Dance Academy

  • Served as Chief Intern of the Second Artillery Art Troupe

  • Currently the founder of Supreme Dance Academy, and serves as Dance Teacher






Ava Shen — Dance

Ava Shen 新加坡南洋艺术学院和南京艺术学院,担任江苏电视台综艺频道舞蹈编导,担任2014年南京青年奥林匹克运动会 节目组导演 具有十年以上丰富的舞台和教学经验。

Ava Shen, graduated from Singapore Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and Nanjing University of the Arts, has been a dancer and choreographer in Jiangsu Variety Channel for over 10 years. As an experienced stage performer and dance instructor, Ava was invited to be a program director of the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games held in Nanjing.
